The Algorithm Became the Medium
Doom Scroll started with a breaking point. The realization that the algorithm had become a curator nobody asked for. Feeds full of content designed to trap attention, not reward it.
Instead of logging off, ThankYouX did something different: he recorded the scroll. Then he destroyed it and rebuilt it as art.
“I got sick of the algorithm telling me what to look at. So I turned it into something I actually wanted to see.”
Each of the 64 pieces captures a moment of real-time doom scrolling, raw feed footage fed through data moshing and feedback loops until the noise becomes signal. The result is a body of work that is simultaneously a protest and a portrait.
Doom Scroll is a reminder that creation is the antidote to consumption. The time we give away to an algorithm can be reclaimed and transformed into something that lasts.

Following the 8/11 digital release, a physical exhibition brings the collection to life in Marfa. The West Texas town that Donald Judd turned into a pilgrimage site for serious collectors.
